Menopause screening is a medical assessment designed to evaluate symptoms, measure key hormone levels, and rule out other health conditions that may mimic menopause, such as thyroid or pituitary disorders. While most women over 45, a diagnosis of menopause is made by a doctor based on menstrual history, screening is especially valuable in younger women, those with atypical symptoms, or women considering Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).
Menopause screening is recommended for women:
- Aged 40–44 with menopausal symptoms, to help confirm perimenopause
- Under 40 with suspected Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI)
- Experiencing severe or unusual symptoms that may be linked to conditions other than menopause
- Who have had a hysterectomy and do not menstruate
- Considering HRT who may benefit from baseline hormone testing
Screening may be needed if you experience menopausal symptoms before age 45, or before age 40 in cases of premature menopause. Blood tests are usually done to measure hormones like FSH and estradiol, often repeated after 4–6 weeks to confirm results. Menopause screening may also be recommended before starting HRT and during follow-up visits to monitor treatment response and overall health.

What to Expect
Kindly note that your health screening process will take about half a day or more depending on the package selected, and you may be required to proceed to several locations for various tests.
- Identity Card/Passport for registration and verification
- Staff pass (for corporate clients)
- Previous medical records (e.g., doctor’s memo, X-ray films, ECG/medical reports) or any current medications
- Sportswear if you have a Treadmill Stress Test scheduled
- Glasses for vision tests (please avoid wearing contact lenses)
- Complete the Health History Questionnaire sent to you via email or SMS before your appointment.
- Fast for at least 8 hours before your appointment, as some tests (e.g., blood tests and abdominal ultrasounds) require fasting. You may drink plain water.
- Do not take diabetic medications (oral or injectable) on the morning of your appointment. You may continue with your regular high blood pressure and/or heart medications.
- For ladies: Schedule urine, stool, pap smear tests, or pelvic examinations 5 days before or after menstruation to ensure accurate results.
- Specimen containers for stool and urine tests will be provided on the day of screening. Alternatively, you may collect them from our clinic before your appointment.
- A review appointment will be arranged by our staff before you leave the clinic. This appointment will occur within 2 weeks following your screening, allowing the doctor to review your results and suggest any necessary follow-up.
- Your summary report will be available on the SMG Health+ app within 7 working days following your screening. You will be notified through the app so you can review the results before the review appointment with your physician.
- Packages must be used within 3 months of purchase and are non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for other items or services, or redeemed for cash.
- Any follow-up services are considered “add-ons” and must be paid by cash, debit, or credit cards.
- Appointments must be scheduled at least 3 working days in advance and are subject to availability.
