What is Shingles?
Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is a viral infection that causes a painful rash, usually on one side of the body or face. It’s caused by the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus that causes chickenpox.

Why Vaccination Matters?
If you’ve had chickenpox, the virus is still in your body. As you age, your immune system weakens, and that virus can reactivate as shingles, often with intense burning pain, blisters, and even long-term nerve damage.
Vaccination is the only way to protect against shingles.

Who Should Get Vaccinated?
- Adults aged 50 and above
- Those who’ve had chickenpox and shingles
- People with weakened immune systems
